|1-Official Scrabble Dictionary
By Zebedee/Carnage
I borrowed my brother's computer version of Scrabble called The Scrabble
Player, and so far I can only beat it on levels A-D and get thrashed on
levels E-L. Why? Because of all those strange `words' that are in the
official Scrabble dictionary.
In only two games against the computer on level E, TSP1 came up with the
following words...
PM OXEN AD IYQS
QO NSW TWM SOU
NSV SOUZ IY RV
DOWAR VMN DALI PYIH
HY GED FEI NW
I have actually seen a recent printed copy of the Scrabble dictionary
and there are hundreds, maybe thousands of words only 2 or 3 letters
long which don't contain _any_ consonants.
Where are these words in the Oxford English Dictionary? I can't find
them! If anyone knows how these words are allowed when noone I know
knows them then I'd love to know! Where did they come from?
I'm a keen Scrabble player myself although I might not be very good but
I do know the official rules about what types of words that aren't
allowed, like people and place names, and abbreviations as well as a few
other types. The ones I've listed above certainly look like
abbreviations to me rather than proper legal words!
Can anyone help a really confused Scrabble player from going insane?
